1 Kings 10
When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon’s fame, which brought honor to the name of the LORD,a she came to test him with hard questions. 2She arrived in Jerusalem with a large group of attendants and a great caravan of camels loaded with spices, large quantities of gold, and precious jewels. When she met with Solomon, she talked with him about everything she had on her mind. 3Solomon had answers for all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. 4When the queen of Sheba realized how very wise Solomon was, and when she saw the palace he had built, 5she was overwhelmed. She was also amazed at the food on his tables, the organization of his officials and their splendid clothing, the cup-bearers, and the burnt offerings Solomon made at the Temple of the LORD.
This is such a remarkable story! I believe God designed the story of the Queen of Sheba to be a picture of his relationship with the woman. In this season of Valentines. Let JESUS CHRIST be your greatest Valentine love. Let him know all that is on your mind and that is in your heart. You have heard of the greatness of JESUS CHRIST. In some way. So come to him with questions. Don 't give him your heart wholly yet. You can 't . You may have hurt, pains, or simply skepticism that anyone could be so full of love and grace. That any one could be so strong and rich. Yet so humble and tender . You might not believe that anyone wold listen to you. That anyone wold cherish you like you were the only woman not just on Earth but in the Universe. But JESUS CHRIST as you seek him. You will find that he is all that and much more.
That like King Solomon he is waiting with open arms. Ready to entertain you. Ready to receive you with all of your treasures. You might not think that you have much to give. You might think like the Prodigal son that you have wasted all. You might come empty and wanting. But JESUS sees you as a great beautiful and powerful treasure. His Glory drew you. The worship and prayers of other people interceding for you. JESUS CHRIST himself died for you sins. He died for you opportunity to come into his palace. Where all of your tears shall be wiped away. All of your hurts shall be healed. All of your questions about life. Why Why, who who and when. They shall be answered. For he is High and lifted up. But he is also meek and lowly. Come unto him all that who are tired and heavy laden.
Sometimes woman like the woman at the well. She is weary of a strange man. She may think that he is like all that came before. Or she might lessen any new man that comes into her life as simply a means to stay warm at night. Good conversation. An occasional reliable argument and the eventual heartbreak. But the woman at the well she tried JESUS . She did not run away from his grace , his truth, and his love once he embraced her with his MAJESTY. But she surrendered her will and her spirit unto JESUS .
The Queen of Sheba had many things. But I sense that the Queen of Sheba might be like many other woman. Woman who you may have a great job. You might have a great husband or boyfriend. You might be the woman that all the men want and all the woman want to be. But you are missing something. Something deep withing is yearning for more. You might cry and yearn inside. Or not even. Maybe you just feel like and unseasoned meal. Its not bad its actually good. But my life is bland. I know there is something more. JESUS CHRIST is that seasoning and sustainer not just for this life. But from EVERLASTING TO EVERLASTING. Your life will not be complete until JESUS has fully come into your house. Sat down with you. Spoken to you. Told you all that you were and had done. Showed you your worth and purpose. Sent you out into the fields in you new garments. Dressed as his wife. His daughter. You are a Kings Daughter. Equipped to help others in the name of JESUS.
Though you may come with hard questions. So did Job. Job challenged God.God or no good man is afraid of tough questions. But more so we are excited encouraged and ready for the passion within you that would challenge us. For it shows us that you seek good. Through everything that you have been through. You are have not given up. You seek greater relationship. You seek more love. You seek more security. You seek more wealth.
For when you read the story of Queen of Sheba. What did she not have? She had everything that a woman could ask for. She had everything that a person could ask for. Yet as she came before Solomon. Her weakness, her fragility, her poverty was exposed. She stood in a way naked before the King.
Where before other leaders I am sure she showed strength. She may have been a warrior Queen. She may have been the wisest in the room. She may have been a great woman of Commerce and business. But before this King. A man endowed and blessed by God in order to bless his people and give his name Glory. She was weak, child like, and in poverty in comparison. Is not how we come before the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS JESUS CHRIST. We might be able to fool other people. We might in fact be stronger than others in some areas of life. But when we stand before JESUS CHRIST. As the prophet Isaiah did . We understand how unholy we are. We understand how weak we are. We understand how in need we are. We need a a king to protect us and to help us. But much more. Not just any King. But we need a gracious and wonderful King to take his time with us. Walk with us in the garden of our lives. Both the Edens of our lives we need a gracious and wonderful King. And also in the Gardens of Gethsemane of our lives. The times of pain and anguish. The time of great decisions. The times of great trial. The times where we wish that we were not alive and had never been born. The times when we feel that the world is against us.
